Ce groupe a pour seul but de promouvoir l'histoire et la généalogie du patronyme Simoneau principalement au Québec, au Canada et aux États-Unis où les descendants de René Simoneau dit Sanschagrin se sont installés.

Il y a aussi d'autres Simoneau qui descendent de Simon Boebe dit Pipe, d'origine allemande, qui pour la plupart ont adopté le patronyme Simoneau. Certains ont conservé le patronyme Pipe ou Pope. Cette souche de Simoneau a principalement pris racine dans les régions de Matane et de Rimouski.
